Introduction (Bob Garrity, Parker)

BG: "And that was 'Just One of Those Things', Max Roach and the All-Stars and some very fine sounds. We'd like to continue with our third quarter-hour by bringing to the stage the addition to the Max Roach Quartet, and one of the greatest additions on alto you can find, Mr. Charlie Parker, Yardbird, on alto, the Max Roach Quartet... And I think, Bird, you said you'd like to do a little 'Star Eyes', right?" CP: "Yeah, Bob, that's right. "'Star Eyes' first..." BG: "OK, 'Star Eyes', Charlie Parker, the Max Roach Quartet..."

Introduction (Bob Garrity)

BG: "'Star Eyes' done by Charlie Parker... And right now, seeing that it's a quarter to one, we'd like to, ah, do what we were talking about earlier, have Charlie Parker stay. Bird? Hey, Bird? Don't go away. Lots more music. Charlie Parker stay, and Bud Powell stay. Bud? Hey, I'm losin' my band here! We want to do the All-Star thing now: Bud at the piano, Charlie Parker, Max Roach stay at the drums. George Duvivier back in on bass, and bring on stand Sonny Stitt on tenor. Talk about bringing back old times in modern jazz, this we should have now. Let's get the All-Stars together, and fellas we've got till one o'clock, which is almost fifteen minutes. How 'bout, ah, 'Moose the Mooche'? Will that make it? To open with?" CP: "Yeah." BG: "All right. Bird and Sonny and everybody, beginning with 'Moose the Mooche' in our All-Star jazz session from Birdland..."

"...play after that, except that for the past fifteen minutes we've been listening to Charlie Parker on alto; Sonny Stitt on tenor; Hank Mobley, tenor; Bud Powell at the piano; and George Duvivier on bass; Max Roach on drums. From Birdland, Broadway at 52nd. We're a little bit over, so it's back to records over at WABC, 770 New York..."

Note:

Note: - all unissued.

This acetate was may have been recorded off the air. Parker does not play on the first tune, but both Mobley and Stitt are audible.
Stitt returns for "Ornithology."
This broadcast was also recorded off the air by Chan Parker, with baby Pree in the room (her cries can be heard at 1:48 of "Star Eyes" on
that version).
