"Greetings and modulations, friends. Today we're turning over our entire program to some recordings of a really wonderful modern jazz concert that took place last Christmas night in Carnegie Hall. And since we have a lot of music to squeeze into the available time, let's turn over the proceedings immediately to the gentleman who was master of ceremonies at that concert, one of America's most popular disk jockeys, Symphony Sid..."

After a snare-drum burst during Haig's solo, Parker says "Salt Peanuts is next" (4:25-4:26)

Note:

This concert features also Miles Davis (tp), Bennie Green and Kai Winding (tb), Sonny Stitt and Lee Konitz (as),
Stan Getz and Warne Marsh (ts), Serge Chaloff (bars), AI Haig, Jimmy Jones, Bud Powell and Lennie Tristano (p),
Tommy Potter, Curly Russell and Joe Shulman (b), Roy Haynes, Jeff Morton and Max Roach (d) and Sarah Vaughan, vcl.
On many issues as recorded on Sunday, December 25, 1949.

- b: on many issues interrupted from the 7th bar of the 5th solo till the 9th bar of the 6th chorus of Parker by
Leonard Feather, who says that Parker is quoting from Louis Armstrong's "West End Blues".
Feather's talk was dubbed in afterwards. CD/Jass J-CD-16 is without the Leonard Feather interruption.

- e: someone (Parker?) mentions the tune "Salt Peanuts", presumably a briefing for the tune to be played next.
Whether it was played - it was usually used as a closer by Parker - is not yet known.
Another possibility is that it is merely a comment or acknowledgement that Roy Haynes has just worked
the "SaIt Peanuts" riff into his@accompaniment to AI Haigfs solo.
